Viola Daugherty, 98, of Wampum Rd. Wampum (Big Beaver Boro) died on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the Ellwood City Hospital following a short illness.
Born March 16, 1914 in Koppel, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosetta Blair Barber.
She was married for 50 years to O. Otis Daugherty when he died July 26, 1985.
Viola retired from the G.C. Murphy 5 & 10 in Beaver Falls where she was a floor clerk. She was affiliated with the Clinton United Methodist Church. Viola enjoyed traveling, reading and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter – Dianne Daugherty with whom she resided; three grandsons – Jason (Holly) Daugherty and Brad Daugherty of Girard, PA, John (Jennifer) Daugherty of Butler; and four great grandchildren – R.J. and Jonathan Daugherty of New Brighton, Jocelyn Daugherty of Butler, and Katie (KJ) Larson of Erie; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons – William and Robert Daugherty. The last of her family she was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 9, 2012 from 2:00 until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Rev. David Alleman of the Clinton United Methodist Church will officiate
Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
