Loretta J. Marshall, 71, of Morrison Ave., Ellwood City (Wurtemburg Heights) died on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Ellwood City Hospital following a ten month illness.
Born May 28, 1941 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Albert Don Pitts and the late Nellie Patterson Pitts Wehman. She was married for 48 years to John S. Marshall who survives.
Loretta retired in 2003 from the Ellwood City Hospital where she was a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. She began her nursing career at Providence Hospital in Beaver Falls and also worked for Dr. Jack C.W. Brooks. She was an active member of the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church. She was the former long time secretary of the Woman’s Society, Communion Steward, served on the Pastor Parish Committee and the Worship Committee. She was a member of the Wurtemburg-Perry VFD Ladies Auxiliary and the PA Nurse’s Assn. Loretta enjoyed bowling, camping, traveling, and herb gardening, She enjoyed golfing and belonged to the Delmar Thursday Woman’s Golf League. Her most cherished time was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, John, survivors include a son, Scott (Tina) Marshall of Ellport; a daughter, Melissa (Ken) Ogorek of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Sherry Weigel of Perry Twp., Kandy (Matt) Mazula of SC; three brothers, Ted (Pam) Wehman of Perry Twp., Mike (Patty) Wehman of Ellwood City, Frank (Carol) Wehman of Perry Twp.; five grandchildren, Kelsey and Jacob Marshall and John, Lottie, and Elizabeth Ogorek.
She was preceded in death by two brothers Donald and Richard Pitts.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 26 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.
Funeral Services will be held at the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Jean Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in the Wurtemburg Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church or the Ellwood City Public Library.
