Walter V. Grudowski Jr., 71

Walter V. Grudowski Jr., 71, of Heinz Camp Rd., Ellwood City died on  Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at  Silver Oaks Health Center in New Castle following a brief illness.

Born July 2, 1941 in North Braddock, PA,  he was the son of the late Walter V. and Nellie Bober Grudowski Sr.  He was married for 34 years  to Janice Keller Grudowski, who survives.

Walter was a retired salesman.  He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellwood City, serving on the church council, as an usher, and sang in the choir.  He was a member and four time Past Master of the Free and Accepted Mason’s Lodge # 599 in Ellwood City.  He was a former member of the New Castle Consistory.  Walter was active in the Syria Shrine, the Roadrunners, Shrine Hillbilly Clan, and was a two time Commodore of the Syria Mariners.  He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

In addition to his wife, Janice, survivors include three sons,  Walter V. (Young Hui) Grudowski III of Ohio, Joseph (Janet) Grudowski of McKeesport, PA, Vincent (Lisa) Grudowski of North Huntington, PA; daughter, Rebecca (Frank) Zapotoczny of Ohio; step-son, Joseph Poerschke of New Mexico; sister, Charlene (John) Gelsinger of Florida; brother, Charles Grudowski and his fiancé,Catherine Duzyk of Irwin, PA; and ten grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a step son, Carl L. Poerschke III.

Visiting hours will be held from 7-9 on Saturday, February 2 and from 2-4 and 7-9  on Sunday at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.   A Masonic Service will be held at 7 pm on Saturday.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellwood City with his pastor, Rev. Peggy Suhr-Barkley officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Syria Shrine Roadrunners, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick, PA 15024.

    You are in our thoughts and prayers! Walt was a great friend and will be missed. He helped me alot when I was coming up through the chairs at lodge. He will be missed and lodge and at the Shrine as well. He was a great friend!!

We of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary mourn the loss of our shipmate, but we are consoled by the abiding faith that when the final watch changes for us and we too, cross the bar, our shipmate Walter will be waiting to guide us to safe anchorage. We honor and cherish the memory of Walter V. Grudowski.
