Sophia Ann Risko, 86

Sophia Ann Dukovich Risko, 86, of Martin Ave., Ellport passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Jameson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Born November 2, 1926 in Wampum, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Sophia Zalesnak Dukovich. She has been married to Nicholas Risko for 66 years, he survives.

Sophia was a member of Holy Redeemer Church. She was a member and past two year president of the St. Agatha Christian Mothers. She was also secretary of the St Agatha and Holy Redeemer Social Club’s for 15 years. Sophia graduated from Wampum High School in 1944 and was a member of the Do and Save Homemaker’s Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, gardening, and crocheting.

In addition to her husband, Nick, survivors include three daughters, Tracey Risko of Ellport, Judith Thom and Cheryl (John) Pratt, both of Ellwood City; two sons, Larry Risko and Robert Risko, both of New York City; two sisters, Helen Tita of Koppel, Mildred Doutt of Wampum; and one grandchild, Cherie Pratt.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Vinko, Robert, and Joseph Dukovich; sister, Barbara Benn; and three siblings in infancy, Mikie, Johnie, and Annie Dukovich,

There will be no visiting hours. A private blessing service will be held on Wednesday, September 11 at 10 am at the Marshall Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
