John William Deal, 68, of Ellwood Rd, Wayne Twp died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.
Born February 21, 1945 in New Castle, he was the son of the late John C. and Margaret M. Mills Deal. He was married for 47 years to Sharyn R Guy Deal, who survives.
Jack graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1963. He served in the US Army Security Agency from 1965 -1969 with an honorable discharge. He worked for several local companies in the area before retiring with 35 years of service at Nalco (Calgon) as a Maintenance Employee. He was an active member of the Chewton Christian Church, having served as a Sunday School Teacher, Elder, and other offices throughout the years at the church. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Jack’s most cherished time was spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Sharyn, survivors include a daughter, Melissa (Howard) Parker of Ellwood City; sister, Catherine (David) Bailey of North Sewickley Twp; brother, Richard (Susan) Deal of Kimbolton, Oh; and a grandson, Private Derrik William Parker. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Jean Matricardi.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday February 4, 2014 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave, Ellwood City. Friends will also be received on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am at the Chewton Christian Church. Pastors Gene Hydrick and Dick Allen will officiate. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Sharon,Melissa & Family, Jack was a kind,man with lots of faith and a good sense of humor. I haven’t seen him much lately once we moved. I do have many fond memories of him.
