Frank Dick Allen, 78, of Scotland Lane, New Castle died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Ellwood City Hospital.
Born March 27, 1935 in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Darl “Skinny” and Emma B. Cragle Allen.
He was married to Nora J Hennon Allen for 54 years. She survives.
Dick graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953. He retired from the Babcock & Wilcox Company with 34 years of service. During that time, he was also the Wayne Township Police Chief. After retirement in 1986, he moved to Morrisville N.C. where he Pastored the Calvary Baptist Church and worked as a driver for the Triangle Transit Authority and for the Bolton Corporation in Raleigh. Upon his return to PA in 1996, he became the Pastor at the Chewton Christian Church until his retirement on Dec 31, 2012. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 599 in Ellwood City and the New Castle Consistory. Dick played, coached and umpired baseball and softball for many years. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Along with his wife Nora survivors include a daughter – Cindy Allen of Chewton; 3 sons – Daniel (Kim) Allen of Chewton, David Allen of Somerset, Jim (Kelli) Allen of Apex, NC; a brother – Darl J.”Jack” (Sharon) Allen of Portersville; 5 grandchildren – Ryan (Shauna) Mulhollen, Kyleigh, Taylor, Thomas, and Derrick Allen; 2 great-grandchildren – Tyler and Madison Mulhollen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum.
Funeral Services will be held at the Chewton Christian Church on March 20, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Pastors Gene Hydrick and Mick Wimer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Slippery Rock Church Cemetery.

Nora: We are very saddened by the passing of Dick. God broke the mold when He created him. He has truly been missed by us and many others. Calvary Baptist was never the same after you both left.
Although you know where he is, we know this must be hard. We are praying for you and the rest of his family.

I am so sorry for the loss of Frank “Dick” Allen. While I never met Frank I know his son James and consequently I feel I know Frank as well as the loss that James and the rest of the family is experiencing.
My heart goes out to all of you for your loss. Whether we like it or not, death is part of life, we must accept that and hold dear everything about the life of Frank Allen to comfort us.
It will be hard to think of a world without Dick Allen, but in Dick’s own words, he has been promoted! God bless the family in this new journey.
