Rose M. Pomerico, 95

Rose M Pomerico, 95, of Old Rt 18, , Wampum died on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Jameson Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

Born September 8, 1918 in Wampum, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Romana Quintana.

She was married for 50 years to Louis R Pomerico Sr who died on October 12, 1988.

She was a member of the former St. Monica Church in Wampum and is currently a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church in New Castle.

She retired from Sno Top Mushroom farm in Wampum after many years of service. During WW2 she worked at the Ellwood City Tube Mill as one of the original “Rosie the Riveter”. Rose was a graduate of Wampum High School in 1937. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include 2 daughters – Donna (Anthony) Thomas of Wampum, PA, Joyce (Roger) Russo of Gibsonia; son – Louis (Jan) Pomerico Jr. of New Castle; 5 granddaughters – Paula (Russell) Carr, Keri Russo, Lindsay Russo, Ciara (Nick) Keefer, Alyssa Pomerico; grandson – Dean (Darcy Jenkins) Pomerico; 3 great-grandson – Brandon Carr; Zac Carr, and Donte Joseph Pomerico; 2 great-granddaughters – Ella Rose Keefer, Devlin Rose Pomerico;

The last of her family, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters- Angeline Sbarro, Ann Karner, Josephine Pomerico, and Yolanda Bara.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday March 11, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Vincent DePaul Church on Wednesday at 10:00 am.

Entombment will follow at St. Peters Mausoleum at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

    My mother couldn’t attend the funeral today, but she wanted me to send her deepest sympathy via this site. Rosie was a good friend to her throughout the years and we will both always remember her smiles and laughter. She was a very special lady.
