Martin J. Woloszyn, 73

Martin J. Woloszyn, 73, of Chewton died on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Avalon Nursing Center following an extended illness.

Born May 27, 1940 in Chewton, he was the son of the late Julian and Mary Ostrowski Woloszyn.

Marty retired from Babcock and Wilcox following 30 years of service. After his retirement, he served as the maintenance supervisor at the Queen of Heaven Parish. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church and a former member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member and former chief of the Chewton Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Taylor Twp Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Chewton Polish White Eagles Club.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rita Kolik Woloszyn; two daughters, Michele (Sean) Seth of North East, Mary (Michael) Rice of New Castle; son, Michael (Regina) Woloszyn of Midland; two sisters, Julia (Leon) Johnson of State College, Margaret (Joe) Civitillo of Apollo; two brothers, Andrew (Diane) Woloszyn of Ellwood City, Anthony (Karen) Woloszyn of Chewton; four grandchildren, Micaela Woloszyn, Jeremy Rice, Jayne and Julia Seth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry Woloszyn.

Visiting hours will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home, Main St. Wampum on Tuesday May 6 from 9 until departing at 10:30 for the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City.

Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
