Donna M. Shaw, 86, of Orchard Park Dr., New Castle, formerly of Ellwood City passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born September 8, 1928 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late J. Emery and Elva M. (Dutterer) Neuman. She was married for 64 years to Dale E. Shaw as they were married July 21, 1950.
Donna graduated from Lincoln High School in May of 1946. She furthered her education attending Adrian College in Michigan. Mrs. Shaw began her working career at GC Murphy’s in Ellwood City. She then worked in the business office at the Ellwood City Hospital, the business office of Westminster College in New Wilmington, and also at the former Lawrence Savings and Trust Bank in New Castle. Mrs. Shaw was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, having been a member of the Agape Sunday School Class, the Calvineer’s, was a Deacon, belonged to the Ladies Circle, and was a former officer of the Women’s Association. She enjoyed quilting, at Calvin and various other churches in the area. She was a member of the Ellwood City AARP where she formerly served on the Travel Board. Donna was also a volunteer with the local Meals on Wheels program.
In addition to her husband, Dale, survivors include a daughter, Cindy L. Shaw of Reading, Pa; two sons, Robert E. (Deborah) Shaw of California, Jeffrey A. (Taylor) Shaw of Pittsburgh; two nieces, Carol Reichert of Portersville, Beverly Horton of Georgia, seven nephews: Dr. Timothy J. Lilly of Grove City, Darrel Kennedy of Virginia, Robert Kennedy of Butler, Gerald Robinson of New Castle, David Robinson of Ohio, Gary Robinson of Sharon, and Samuel Robinson of Edinburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Dorothy V. Ickes and Grace A. (Rev. James R.) Lilly of Ellwood City; and niece Saundra Shields of New Castle.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 3-7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received Thursday at the Calvin Presbyterian Church from 10-11 am, with service at 11 am. Her pastor, Rev. Sean Brubaker will officiate. Luncheon will immediately follow the service. Those who wish are welcome to join the family for interment at the Plain Grove Cemetery.

Mr Shaw and Family, I’d like to send my sincerest sympathies on Donna’s passing. I was surprised to read about it. She will be missed. Always such a sweet lady.
Mrs. Shaw was such an extraordinary person who had an immeasurable impact on the lives of her family, friends, and community. She was an example to all she knew of dedication and service, while representing the finest qualities that exist within the human spirit. She will be missed by all those she touched.
