Edward D. Doherty Sr., 83

DohertyEdward D. Doherty Sr., 83, of Wampum died on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at his residence.

Born August 8, 1932 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Mildred Truby Doherty. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Samuel and Margaret Truby.

Ed married his loving and devoted wife Dorothy “Peannie” Barber on September 14, 1957. She survives.

Ed worked at Shaw Perkins for 16 years then at Babcock and Wilcox for 21 years. He also worked at Stonecrest Golf Course for 10 years and at the New Castle Country Club for 10 years. A Veteran of the US Army, Ed served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Koppel Big Beaver Sportsman’s Club. Ed was an avid big game hunter enjoying trips to Colorado for over 20 years. He loved to cut grass and horseback riding. He always enjoyed taking joy rides, but Dorothy said it always had to be North. But most of all he loved his family and creating many wonderful memories with them.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, survivors include a daughter, Vivian (Jim) Champion of Wampum; two sons, Edward D. (Sharon) Doherty Jr. of Wampum, Randy (Jodi) Doherty of West Pittsburg; seven grandchildren, Blaine J. (Michele) Miller Jr., Crystal L. (Ron) Mitchell, Nikki Champion and her fiancé Thomas Richard, Eddie (Kayla) Doherty III, Leslie (Johnathon) Kudelski, Breonna Doherty, and Randy Doherty Jr.; four great grandchildren, Austin Miller, Brooklin Miller, Caitlynn Doherty and Brantley Kudelski; and a great great grandchild, Jaxson Miller.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday August 26 from 4 pm until the time of the funeral service at 7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Pastor Joe Lahr of the Cornerstone Community Church will officiate.
