R. Duane Douglas, 81

R. Duane Douglas, 81, of Concord Church Rd, North Sewickley Twp died unexpectedly on Monday, September 7, at the Heritage Valley Hospital, Beaver.

Born December 4, 1933 in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Julia I. Laughlin Douglas.

He was married to Carol Lee Swick Douglas for 57 years, she survives.

Duane was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church. A graduate of Beaver Falls High School in 1951, he was formerly a North Sewickley Twp Supervisor. Duane was a member of the Beaver Lawrence and PA Farm Bureau. He enjoyed owning and operating Douglas Farm for many years.

Besides his wife, survivors include son, Mark Douglas of North Sewickley Twp, daughter, Janice (Brant) Cooper of Marion Twp, seven grandchildren, Robert, Daniel, and Christopher Wright, Jaclyn Reader, Ryan Cooper, Jessica Bennett, and Ethan Douglas, nine great grandchildren, and a brother, James P. (Donna) Douglas of North Sewickley Twp.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Sue Douglas in 2001, a sister, Jeanne Singo, and a brother, Charles E. Douglas Jr.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday September 9, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

The family will receive friends for one hour before the Funeral Service, which will be held at the Concord United Methodist Church on September 10, at 11 am with Rev. John Phipps officiating.

Interment will follow in the Concord Church Cemetery.
