Hairhoger, Marlene 2Marlene Hairhoger, 82, of Wampum New Galilee Rd. New Beaver Boro passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.

Born April 9, 1933 in Wampum, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Edith Rush Harper. She was married for 63 years to David O. Hairhoger Sr. who survives.

A homemaker, Marlene graduated from Wampum High School and was a member of the Wampum Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her husband, Dave, survivors include a son, David O. (Richard Moriarty) Hairhoger Jr.; two daughters, Robin (Paul) Chiappetta, Jody (Richard) Burnett. She was “Nanny to five grandchildren, Joshua (Mindy), Jacob, Kayla, and Caleb Chiappetta and Natalie (Justin) Burick; and five great grandchildren, Brendan. Gavin, Madilyn, and Landon Chiappetta, and Claire Burick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, George Harper, and two sisters, Betty Ross and Norma Gray.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-8 pm on Saturday and from 2-4 and 6-8 on Sunday at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 11 am with her pastor, Rev. Dr. William R. McGary officiating.

Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.

  1. I am sorry to hear of Marlene`s passing. Iwill not be able to convey my sympathies inperson as we are in Arizona at this time. Marlene and her family were dear dear friends to my son Mark and me a very long time ago. I have never forgotten her kindness and generosity to us . My thoughts and sympathies are with you all.   3. To all the family of Marlene I am so sorry for your loss. She welcomed my family and I with open arms this summer while first meeting her at camp. She and Dave were both so kind. I wish I would have had more time to get to know you better but our time here is one thing we cannot control. Prayers to all your survivors. May they cherish your memories and find peace in your final resting.
