Daniel J. Kegarise, 62, of E. Edison Ave., New Castle died Friday, November 13, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital following complications arising from an unexpected heart attack.
Born May 26, 1953 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Ellis and Shirley Wehman Kegarise. He was married to Eleanor Durbin Kegarise who survives.
Dan worked for Consolidated Glass Company. He had previously worked for the Union Township Road Department for 22 years. Dan also parked cars for Union High School home football games. Dan graduated in 1971 from New Castle HIgh School where he played football and baseball. He received a football scholarship to attend Arizona where he played until he had an injury that ended his football career. Dan then went on to play professional baseball with the Arizona Rattlers Minor League organization. Dan enjoyed time spent with his family and he loved his dog, Buddy.
In addition to his wife, Eleanor, survivors include three sons, Justin Kegarise of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ty (Bobbie Jo) Kegarise of Pittsburgh, Shawn Kegarise of Pittsburgh; daughter, Ashley (Richard Powell) Kegarise of Hermitage; three step daughters, Michelle Woolsey of New Castle, Lori Hill of Wampum, Shannon Crass of New Castle; two sisters, Amy (Donald) Cubellis of Hermitage, Mary Kegarise of Texas; a brother in law, Bob Rio of Florida; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Anita Rio.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday November 17, 2015 from 2-4 and 6 until the time of the funeral service at 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Rev. Susan Petritis of Gateway Hospice will officiate the services.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy to my cousin Dan’s family. I was blessed to have a recent visit with Dan and he was still the sweet kind man I have always known. Dan was and will always be a loved and remembered member of our family. May your many memories provide you comfort and strength now.
