Helen C. Barto, 98

BartoHelen C. Barto, 98, of Northview Estates passed away peacefully Saturday, May 7, 2016 at her residence.

Born October 26, 1917 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Frances Crum Gibson Sr. She was married for 59 years to Ray N. Barto who passed away November 1, 1999.

Helen was a long time Crossing Guard for the Ellwood City Police Department. She was a member of Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church. Helen enjoyed traveling. Her most cherished time was spent with family.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Tim) Giegel of Pittsburgh; son, Dennis (Suzanne) Barto of Fort Myers, Florida; seven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

The last of her family, she was preceded in death by five brothers.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 11 from 5 – 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 am until the time of the funeral services at 11 am. Rev. Keith R. Black will officiate. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.

  3. Dennis and Susan, Sorry to hear of your mothers passing, she was a sweet lady. I stopped in a few years ago and payed her a visit and really enjoyed seeing her again. I knew your dad passed away but didn’t know when, your parents always treated us very well. God bless and keep you at this time. Don (Butch) Anderson
