Jeffrey S. Johnson, 58, of West Pittsburg passed away at his home on May 25, 2016, following his courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 4, 1957 in New Castle, the son of the late Edwin R. and Nancy K. Armstrong Johnson. Surviving at home is his beloved wife and soul mate, the former Tracey L. Rice, whom he married June 22, 1990.
He graduated from Neshannock High School in 1975 and enlisted into the US Army, proudly serving 12 years, participating in search and recovery of US soldiers missing-in-action from the Vietnam Conflict. He was a graduate of E.T.I. Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Engineering and also graduated from Jameson Hospital’s School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. His career as an RN provided the greatest satisfaction in being able to provide relief for the sick and disabled.
Jeff enjoyed many sports, including football, baseball, hockey, and boxing. Some of his favorite memories included attending Super Bowl X, Miami, FL with Pittsburgh Steelers beating the Dallas Cowboys, his dad at his side; teaching his granddaughter, Callie Jo, the art of fishing; and also attending the Mayweather boxing matches at the MGM Garden Arena, Las Vegas, with his wife.
In addition to his wife, Jeff is survived by a daughter, Christy and husband Robert Fullwood; and granddaughter, Callie Jo Fullwood of West Pittsburg; brothers in law, Terence D. (Florence) Rice of West Pittsburg, Scott A. (Kelly) Rice of New Castle, Delbert W. (Deanna) Rice of Riverside, CA; sisters in law, Leslie R. (John) Brady of Tomah Wisconsin, and Billie Jo (Paul) Bryant of Murietta, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service was held for the family at Marshall’s Funeral Home in Wampum. Rev. R. Tod Custer officiated. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Veteran’s Honor Guard.

I was so very sorry to hear about the the news of Jeff passing away. He and I were best friends years ago in New Castle. I lived next door to the Johnson’s on Moody Avenue. We lost touch quite a few years ago but I thought often of him and his mother who I know now is gone too. Thoughts and prayers are with his family. I have many questions about the years we weren’t in touch and would really like to talk to Tracy. I’m leaving my email if you have time to write. Dave Taylor
our sympathies to Tracey and their family and extended family over the passing of Jeff….remember growing up with him …Was a good guy and would do anything for you…May Jeff rest in the joy of heaven…
Gary Sansone and the Sansone family….
I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that God is not the cause of this sadness. But He WILL soon fix it. Soon He will fulfill the promise made to us in John 5:28&29, and Revelation 21:3&4. I sincerely hope you find comfort in these scriptures about our future here in Earth…Jw.org
