Russell A. Carr, 60

carrRussell A. Carr, 60, of Wampum passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at the VNA Hospice in Butler following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born January 7, 1956 in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Vincent and Donna J. Moore Carr.

Russell graduated in 1974 from VoTech HIgh School. Following graduation, he worked in the Painter’s Union. For the past 28 years, Russell worked as a lineman for Penn Power. An avid outdoorsman, Russell enjoyed hunting. He cherished the times he spent attending his sons hockey games and all the fun times spent with family and friends. He was a Pittsburgh Sports Fan, especially the Penguins.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Paula M. Thomas Carr; two sons, Brandon A. Carr of Wampum, Zachary A. (Ashley) Carr of Ellwood City; four sisters, Barbara Carr, Brenda Carr, Lori (John) Paukovics, Vikki (Robert) Wimer; three brothers, Walter (Sally) Moore, Ronald (Diane) Carr, and Randy Carr; and his father and mother in law, Anthony (Donna) Thomas of Wampum.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond Carr.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 3 from 3-7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street, Wampum. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 am with Rev. Father Mark Thomas officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

  2. Paula, know that I have had all of you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you find comfort in knowing he’s in a better place, and will no longer have to deal with all the pain. Remember all the good things and know he loved all of you so much. Find comfort in knowing he will always be watching over you. I love you and know I am always here for you.

    There are no words to ease your pain. Everything we try to say falls short. I will pray which is really all anyone can do for you. Take some comfort in the thought that you got to say goodbye and to tell him how much you loved him.

  5. Paula, my thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids. Russ was a great guy and will be missed tremendously. I still remember he and Michael taking me on my first hunting trip when I was thirteen. Good man, raised a good family.
