Peggy E. Rychlicki, 83

Peggy E. Rychlicki, 83, of Main St., Wampum passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital in New Castle following a short illness.

Born June 29, 1933 in Rush Twp., Center County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Corabelle Henderson Grinnen. She was married for 48 years to John R. “Mike” Rychlicki who passed away March 11, 2001.

Peggy, with her husband Mike, owned and operated Peggy’s Floral and Gift Shop in Wampum for 45 years. Active in the community of Wampum, Peggy was a member of the United Methodist Church,a former Councilwoman, a member of the Women’s Club, a founding member of WABA, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed the fellowship of the informal “Breakfast Club”. She was also active with the Wampum Christmas Parade, having been a former Parade Marshall, and portraying Mrs. Santa for many years. She was also an avid Steeler fan. Peggy’s most cherished time was spent with her family.

Survivors include a son, Gary (Lynn) Rychlicki of Greensburg; daughter, Becky (John) Kimmel of Wampum; sister, Linda (David) Argiro of Wampum; four grandchildren, Kara Beth (Michael) Gleghorn, Jennifer (John “J.B.”) Berkebile, Matthew (Jessica) Rychlicki, Lacey (Michael) Doran; nine great grandchildren, Aidan, Elizabeth, Audrey, and Dean Gleghorn, Johnalyn and Kash Berkebile, and Colin, Luke and Shane Doran and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and good friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Grinnen and a sister, Marian Bingham.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday February 6 from 3 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Family and friends will also be received on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am at the funeral home. Her pastor, Rev. Todd Davis will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.

  1. So sorry for your loss. She was such a sweet lady with a good sense of humor. I have fond memories of her. She was so loving in the way she treated people. Wampum lost another one of its finest.
