Kenneth F. Bernd, 58

Kenneth F. Bernd, 58, of North Sewickley Twp. passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Twp. following a short illness.

Born January 6, 1959 in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Floyd L. and Mildred E. Nye Bernd. He was married for 37 years to Diana L. Dixon Bernd, who survives.

Ken graduated from Riverside HIgh School in 1977. He worked at the Ellwood City Forge as a lathe operator for 35 years. Ken enjoyed restoring and maintaining vintage cars. He served as the first President of the “Redneck Rods” car club. His most cherished time was spent with family, especially lunches with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Diana, survivors include three sons, Justin (Jessica) Bernd of Baltimore, MD, Adam (Alexa) Bernd of Valencia, PA, Chad (Kimberly) Bernd of Fombell; two sisters, Katherine (Calvin L.) Sedgwick of Fombell, Susan (Dale) Stelter of Wampum; brother, Charles (Melva) Bernd of Buffalo, NY; brother in law, John Breuer of Indianapolis, IN; and three grandchildren, Natalie, C.J., and Landon Bernd.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Ann Breuer.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday April 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2 pm with Pastor Calvin Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
