Gloria A (Burick) Houk, 81, of Howard St., Chewton passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver following a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Chewton, she was born April 8, 1936 the daughter of the late Frank and Jesse Rocco Burick. She was married for 60 years to James E. Houk Jr. as they were married October 13, 1956. He survives.
Gloria graduated from Lincoln High School. She was a member of the former St. Monica Church in Wampum and a current member of Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband on their motorcycle. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and riding horses. Her most cherished time was spent with her family.
In addition to her husband, Jim, survivors include two sons, James B. (Stacy) Houk and Mark C. (Barbara) Houk. both of Ellwood City; daughter, Erin E. (Tom) Kelly of Chewton; brother, Wayne (Sue) Burick of Chewton; eight grandchildren, Eric Houk and his fiancé, Shannon Hockenberry, Krista (Ryan) Newman, Marisa Houk, Chelsey (Jonathan) Shingler, Caitlynn Houk, Jocelyn Kelly and her fiancé, Brandon Cumberledge, McKenna Houk, and Jessica Kelly; four great grandchildren, Hailey Houk, Chase Shingler, Sawyer Houk, and Carson Cumberledge; and three step great grandchildren, Brody, Brock, and Mia Newman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John R. Burick.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 1 from 5 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Friends will also be received on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the Blessing Service at 11 am. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.

We are so very sorry to hear that Gloria has passed away. I know what a difficult time this is for the entire family. Trust your faith and know that she has no pain, no worries and is watching over all of you until you are all together again. She was a strong woman and you must be strong in keeping her memory alive for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rest in Peace Gloria.
