Kate Macom, 82, of Murphy’s Cut Rd., Chewton passed away peacefully Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver.
Born March 17, 1935 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Russell F. and Ann Bessell Murphy. She was married for 48 years to James A. Macom who passed away August 24, 2008.
Kate graduated from Wampum High School. She worked as the receptionist for St. Francis School of Nursing for many years. She was an active member of the Wampum Presbyterian Church having served as an Elder and Deacon. She enjoyed singing, not only in the church choir, but also with the “Singing Friends”. She loved animals. Her most cherished time was spent with family, especially with her granddaughter, Annie.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori Macom of Chewton, Lisa (James) Iafe of Cranberry Twp.; son, Jamie (Crystal) Macom of Wampum; sister, Mabel Householder of New Beaver Boro; and granddaughter, Annie Macom.
In addition to her husband, Kate was preceded in death by siblings, Bertha McCready and Glen Murphy.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday September 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the Wampum Presbyterian Church. Rev. R. Tod Custer will officiate. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
