Thomas L. Goebel, 75

Thomas L. Goebel, 75, of Wayne Twp. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 18, 2018 following a brief battle with leukemia.

Born December 26, 1942 in Wayne Twp., he was the son of the late Gus and Mabel Lechner Goebel. Tom was married for 52 years to Karen Chappell Goebel who survives.

He retired as a crane man from Babcock and Wilcox after 25 years of services. He then drove school bus for 24 years. Tom was a lifelong active member of the Chewton Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and Trustee. He was also a lifelong farmer who enjoyed tinkering with the farm machinery and could fix anything. He also enjoyed traveling.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Mark (Cris) Goebel of Wayne Twp., Stephen Goebel of New Castle; four sisters, Suzanne Krueger and Mary Hall, both of Wayne Twp., Janice Davis of New Bedford, Sally Fitzgerald of Monaca; two brothers, John (Fran) Goebel and Charles (Mary Lou) Goebel, both of Wayne Twp.; two grandchildren, Alison Goebel and Stephen Goebel Jr.; and one great grandchild, Sage Burkett; and many nieces and nephews inclduing his special nephew, Dennis Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday February 20 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at the Chewton Christian Church with Pastor Gene Hydrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Baptist Cemetery.

  1. Your family has my deepest sympathies Tom was a wonderful person I know that he will be greatly missed but he is now in God’s arms and he will never ever have to feel any pain again. He will watch over his family everyday until you all meet again. God bless you all.
