Wayne S. McAnlis, 93, of New Galilee passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Golden Hill Nursing Center in New Castle following an extended illness.
Born August 29, 1924 in New Galilee, he was the son of the late William S. and Mae Jenkins McAnlis. He was married for 67 years to Lois Vance McAnlis who survives.
Wayne graduated from Mt. Jackson High School. He retired in 1985 from Babcock and Wilcox where he was an equipment operator. Wayne was also a lifetime farmer. He was a member and former trustee at the Galilean Presbyterian Church. Wayne enjoyed camping and his time spent farming. He was a member and former Master of the Big Beaver Grange. He was also a member of the Pamona and PA State Granges. His most cherished time was spent with family.
In addition to his wife, Lois, survivors include five sons, Thomas W. McAnlis of Belgrade, Montana, Rev. John S. (Rev. Karin) McAnlis of Pennington, New Jersey, Dale E. (Faith) McAnlis of New Galilee, William A. (Jackie) McAnlis of Newberg, PA, Wallace E. McAnlis of New Castle; two daughters, Anita M. (Barry) Peffer of Volant, Margaret Ruth (Tim) Grim of New Tripoli, PA; a sister, Margie (Clair) Miller of Portersville, PA; brother, Lee (Bettie) McAnlis of Scottsdale, Arizona; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Paul Robert, and Dale McAnlis; four sisters, Dorothy English, Marie Morrow, Lilly Mae and Roberta McAnlis; and a grandson, Jeremy McAnlis.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 am with Rev. C.F. Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in the Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
