Douglas K. Schnell, 71

Douglas K. Schnell, 71, of Walnut Dr., New Castle (Shenango Twp.) passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at UPMC Horizon – Shenango Valley.

Born March 12, 1947 in Butler, he was the son of the late Dorothy McWilliams . He was married to Cyndy Martin Schnell for 47 years as they were married June 27, 1970. She survives.

Doug was the owner and operator of Sitler and Lemmon Heating and Cooling Company in Ellwood City. In the 70’s and early 80’s, Doug enjoyed drag racing. He also enjoyed working on his cars and spending time golfing. Doug was well liked and a good friend to all who knew him. He will be missed by many.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Jeremy (Rhiannon) Schnell of Ellwood City, Gabe (Connie) Schnell of Shenango Twp.; two brothers and a sister in law, Jeffrey P. Schnell of Albany, GA, and Ariel (Buzz) and Shirley Kelly of Mars, PA.; five grandchildren, Caitlyn and Aidyn Schnell, and Haleigh, Andrew, and Aaron Martin; and a number and nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind dear friends that Doug considered family, Chris and Geri Houston of Hickory Twp. and Fritz and Theresa Graziani and their daughters Ashley and Alyssa of Shenango Twp.

He was preceded in death by sister, Mary Lou Kelly (1998) and two brothers, Merle Kelly (2004) and Russell Schnell (1982).

Friends will be received on Sunday April 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 am with Rev. Randy Stringer of the Neshannock Presbyterian Church officiating. Final interment will take place in Locust Grove Cemetery.

  4. My deepest sympathy to you, Cyndy, and to your family. I remember Doug as a good and kind neighbor on Harmony-Fisher Avenue when my late husband, Ed, and I were just married and new to the neighborhood. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
