Charles R. Gardner, 77, of Wayne Twp., Ellwood City passed away Monday, July 15, 2019 at his residence following a brief illness.
Born September 30, 1941 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Harry and Frances (Stevenson) Gardner.
Charles retired from Value Structures in Ellwood City. He was a member of the Berean Presbyterian Church. In his earlier years, Charles went to Kansas to become a herdsman. He participated with the 4H Club for over 25 years. He enjoyed showing cattle at the fairs and working with his twin brother on his farm.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillie Smith Gardner; daughter, Kerry (John) Coulter of Ellwood City; two sons, Charles R. (Carolyn) Gardner Jr. of Erie, Michael (Kate) Gardner of Volant; sister, Gladys (Bob) Martin of Butler; two brothers, Richard Gardner of Wayne Twp., Albert (Patti) Gardner of Mercer; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Laura Sheldon and Dorothy Christy and his twin, Chester A. Gardner.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday July 20 from 11 am until the time of the Memorial Service at 1 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City. His pastor, Rev. Bruce Gardner will officiate the service.
