Elizabeth F. “Betty” Smith, 84, formerly of Fombell, passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at Passavant Retirement Community following a brief illness.
Born November 3, 1935 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Margaret F. (Nye) Bunney Sr. She was married to Leroy E. “Cub” Smith for 52 years when he passed away in 2010.
Betty was a 1954 graduate of Lincoln High School. She obtained her LPN from Beaver County Community College where after she began her career at the Ellwood City Hospital until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church. Betty was a beautiful quilter and enjoyed reading. Her most cherished time was spent with family.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Joseph) Landis of North Carolina; her son, Mark E. (Melanie) Smith of Indiana; four grandsons, Jacob Landis, and Matthew, Lukas, and Jonathan Smith; and her brother, Tom (Josephine) Bunney of Ellwood City.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Pamela J. Bunney; her brother, George A. Bunney Jr.; and her grandson Robbie Smith.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday March 19, 2020 from 1 until the time of the funeral service at 3 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City with Pastor Calvin Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in Camp Run Church Cemetery.
