Walter Judson “Judd” Blinn Jr., 85

Walter Judson “Judd” Blinn Jr., 85, of Slippery Rock Township passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, December 7, 2020.

Born May 1, 1935 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Walter Judson and Jessie Ardella Smith Blinn. He was married to Marilyn Howell Blinn for 58 years. They were married in August,1962.

Judd retired from Shenango High School in 1992 after 35 years, where he taught 7th and 8th grade general science. His first year of teaching was with the New Brighton School District. He was a former member of the North Sewickley Presbyterian Church. He was a current member of Harmony Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon and taught Sunday School. Judd formerly was a member of the Gideons International, served on the Laurel School Board, Portersville Steam Show Board, and the Lawrence County Fair Board. He was a former member of the National Guard.

Although he enjoyed working with young people as a teacher, at his heart he was a farmer. He used to joke that farming was his version of “playing golf.” He bred cattle with his father, and both also shared a love of horses and had raised Shetland ponies. It was rare to catch him without a smile, and he was quick to help anyone in need. But above all, Judd loved God and his family, in that order.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn, two daughters, Elizabeth Ardelle Blinn of Franklin, TN; Amy Sue (William) Gartley of Hopewell; two sons, Walter Judson “Jay” Blinn, III of Slippery Rock Township, Matthew W. (Shanna) Blinn of Slippery Rock Township; six grandchildren, Grace, Faith, and Jake Gartley, and Ella, Benson, and Jesse Blinn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Jane Krepps.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday December 10, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Visitation will also be held at the Harmony Baptist Church on December 11, 2020 from 11:00 until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm. His Pastor Jeff MacKay will officiate.

Interment will follow in Harmony Baptist Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Gideons International or Harmony Baptist Church.
