Mathew C. Reese, 41, of Chewton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 12, 2021 at his residence.
Born July 22, 1979 in Rochester, he was the son of the late James and Karen Statton Reese. He was married to Jami Hamrick Reese for 11 years.
Matt was a manager at the Ellwood City Forge. He enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach and Jamaica. He was an avid Steelers fan and loved playing fantasy football. He loved food and his puppies. Matt cherished times spent with his family, particularly with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Jami and his mother Karen, Matt is survived by two daughters, Allyson (Tyler) Boxen of Wampum and Kacie Hartzell of Ravenna, OH; three grandchildren, Aubrie, Ella, and Nash Boxen; parents in law, Art and Victoria Contois of New Brighton; and two brothers, Jim (Lori) and John Reese.
He was preceded in death by his father James.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday July 14, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main St. Wampum. The funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home with his Pastor Andy Russell officiating.
A celebration of Matt’s life will be held on Thursday July 15 from 11 am until 3 pm at the New Galilee Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s or the Humane Society.

Karen. so sorry for tour loss. I did not know Matt personally, but I grew up with you and your brothers. No mother should have to bury their children. I can only imagine the pain you feel. Please take comfort in knowing that God has you in His hands as you grieve. God will take care of you.

Matthew I didn’t know you for long, I didn’t know much about you. But what I did know about you, that you loved with your whole heart. I saw the beginning of you and Jami. At the Polish Falcons we would have such fun time. Your mom loves you beyond this world as you will love your family. Today you are an Angel of our father. You will continue to be needed by your family. Guide them, give them sighs that you are just in another room.
