Ronald N. Scala Sr., 84, of Espyville (formerly of Wampum) passed away Monday, August 1, 2022 at The Grove at New Castle.
Born February 10, 1938 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Nick and Amanda “Mundy” (Fontana) Scala. He was married to Patti Postlewait when she passed in 1985.
Ron was a veteran of the Navy. He was a member of the former St. Monica’s Church in Wampum. Ron owned and operated Ron’s Barber Shop in Wampum for 63 years until his retirement on March 21, 2015. He knew everyone in town and was always ready to deliver an appropriate prank, joke, or story to lighten the mood and put a smile on their face. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time at the lake.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald N. (Jennifer) Jr. of Florida, Greg of West Middlesex, and Ray Scala of Harlansburg; daughter, Patti (Steve) Fradkin of Reisterstown, MD; sister, Jean (Gene) Morabito; 9 grandchildren, Nick (Carolyn), Josh (Katherine), Taylor, Morgan, Lexi, and Amanda Scala, and Brittany, Jacob (Lizzy), and A.J. Fradkin; 7 great grandchildren, Nick, Connor, Grady, Myles, and Emma Scala, and Carly and Jay Fradkin.
In addition to his parents and wife Patti, he was preceded in death by his brother Joe Scala.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave., Ellwood City on August 6, 2022 at 11:00 am with Lawrence County Commissioner Dan Vogler officiating.
