James L. “Butch” Buchanan, 78, of Ellwood City passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at his residence. Although in ill health, death was unexpected.
Born November 25, 1944 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Wendell J. and Marjorie M. Knight Buchanan. He was married to Connie Powell Buchanan.
Butch retired from the Koppel B&W after 40 years of service as a crane operator. He was a member of the Wayne Township Fire Department and the Chewton Polish White Eagles. Butch enjoyed NASCAR and dirt track racing, and in his younger years, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Connie; daughter, Jodi Buchanan of Chewton; three grandsons, twins Logan (Montana) of Richmond VA and Nick Jones of Chewton and Jimmy Buchanan also of Chewton; two sisters, Iris (Gary) Revetti of Wampum and Millie Stewart of New Castle.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Zook.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday February 27, 2023 from 4:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 6:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum. Pastor Dave Keppen will officiate.
