Goldie Elizabeth “Betty” Hinkle, 77, of Portersville passed away at 9:00 AM on Saturday March 4, 2023 at the Quality Life Services Chicora with her family at her side. She fought a valiant battle against Alzheimer’s Disease.
Goldie, also known as Betty, was born February 10, 1946 in Jamestown New York, and was adopted as an infant by Walter and Leona Cooper Bixler and moved to her new home in Butler County, PA. There, she was raised on her grandfather’s farm near Harrisville and her home in Slippery Rock. She attended Slippery Rock High School, graduating in 1964. Upon graduation she worked for Dr. Vincent until resigning to raise her family.
Betty met her soul mate, Robert Hinkle in High School and they were later married on February 11, 1966 at the United Methodist Church in Slippery Rock, PA.
Betty was always a loving and caring person, which prompted her to become an Emergency Medical Technician and to volunteer with the Portersville Muddy Creek EMS. She was part of the organization for 25 years. She was very compassionate with her patients and comforted them as they were treated and transported. Her efforts were recognized by receiving the “Paul Harris Award” issued by the Rotary Club.
She is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Terri (Ken) of Prospect, two sons, Todd (Ronda) of Portersville and Jonathan of Slippery Rock; daughter-in-law Angie of Japan; Aunt Pauline Ward; a brother; ten grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Christopher.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 8, 2023 from 1:00 PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 4:00 PM at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Pastor Dana Opp will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountville Cemetery.
