Carolyn J. Keane, 81

Carolyn J. Keane, 81, of Ellwood City passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at The Grove At New Wilmington. Although in ill health, death was unexpected.

Born April 5, 1942 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late William and Lavada (Welsh) Sobeski. She was married for 55 years to Thomas W. Keane Sr. as they were married August 12, 1967.

Carolyn was a member of the Divine Grace Parish and their Christian Mothers Association. She also was a member of their Banner Group and enjoyed making pierogies for the annual St. Agatha Bazaar. Carolyn graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and Edinboro University in 1964 where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was an avid baker and cake decorator. She was affectionately known as “Aunt Coke”

In addition to her husband, Tom, survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Keane Jr. of Pittsburgh, Andy R. Keane of Ellwood City; sister, Roberta Buccelli of Pittsburgh; brother, William S. (Allison ) Sobeski of Ellwood City; two grandchildren, Piper Marie and Duncan Joseph Keane; niece, Brandi Sobeski; nephew James (Lisa) Buccelli and their children Jordan and Lindsay; numerous beloved nieces and nephews and their families on Tom’s side and former daughter in law, Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step mother, Eleanor Brelloch.

Friends will be received on Tuesday June 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at Divine Grace Parish with Rev. Father James Wehner officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Mausoleum.

  1. So sorry to hear about “Coke’s” passing. She was one of my best playmates when I spent time with Grams Estkowski. My deepest condolences!
