Albert G. “Sonny” Klinesmith Sr.

Albert G. “Sonny” Klinesmith Sr., 73, of  Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Edinburg died on  Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in Arizona following an extended illness.

Born December 8, 1939 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Paul Clinton and Virginia May Shrum Klinesmith.  He was married to Karen Florence Robinson Klinesmith who passed away June 14, 2009.

Sonny retired as a security guard for Ellwood Quality Steel.  He was previously employed as a machinist for Dray Manufacturing and Mesta Machine in New Castle.

He was a Veteran of the Navy.  He was a member and past president of the New Castle Kennel Club.  He loved to cook, enjoyed antique cars, traveling, and was an avid Steeler fan.  His most cherished time was spent with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia (Lee) Herr of Mesa, AZ, Brenda (Tom) Harper of New Castle; two sons, Terrance DeGraff (Tammy) Klinesmith of Ellwood City, Albert G.(Helen) Klinesmith Jr. of New York; five sisters, Lois Nagel, Virginia Klinesmith and April Klinesmith, all of New Castle, Roberta Baldwin of Ellwood City, Catherine Hughes of Clarion, PA; one brother, Jack Klinesmith of Campbell, CA; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Carol Reynolds, Joann Lutz, and Linda Kane; and two brothers, Paul and Gregory Klinesmith.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday, February 20 at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11am with Rev. Norman Moniger officiating.  Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.

Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
