Alfred D. Aquino, 82, of Johnston Drive , Ellwood City died on Monday, December 31, 2012 at the emergency room of the Ellwood City Hospital. Although in ill health death was unexpected.
Born July 18, 1930 in Beaver Falls, PA, he was the son of the late Louis E Aquino and Rose Patricia Zigerelli Aquino.
He was married for 58 years to Ethel Joan “Sis” Snyder Aquino who died July 10, 2009.
Al was a machine operator at Babcock and Wilcox, the East Works, until his retirement in 1985. He moved to North Myrtle Beach after retirement, where he was the head of security for the Ocean Creek Plantation Resort.
He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He served with the 82nd Airborne and received a Purple Heart.
He was a member of the VFW in North Myrtle Beach. He enjoyed playing cards, was a military and history buff and an avid football fan, especially the Steelers.
Survivors include daughter – Cynthia Aquino Nordi of Center Township, ; 2 sons – Thomas (Patti) Aquino of West Middlesex, Timothy (Susan) Aquino with whom he resided; nine grandchildren; Jeffery Nordi, Arin Aquino Crawford, Adam, Aric, Gabrielle, Justin, Kristin, Alex Aquino, and Shane Meyers; nine great grandchildren, Briar, Madelyn, and Caden Crawford, Ian Aquino Gibbons, Nadine, Avery, Bridget, Isabella, and Arianna Aquino.
The last of his family he was preceded in death by four brothers James (Betty), Ernest, Frank (Dorothy), Ralph (Carol) Aquino and a great granddaughter Sarah Crawford.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday January 5, 2013 from 12:00 pm to the time of the services.
Memorial Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Avenue Ellwood City on January 5, 2013 at 3:00 pm.
