Belva Jean Swick Young, 92, of Mercer Rd. Ellwood City passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, February 20 surrounded by her family.
Born February 17, 1923 in North Sewickley, she was the daughter of the late George B. and Sadie E. McDanel Swick .
She was a lifelong active member of Concord United Methodist Church. She served her church for years, from helping with communion at the age of twelve, to cooking and serving dinners, and faithfully attending Church, Sunday School, and other church groups through January of this year.
Belva Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family loved her chocolate chip cookies and she made the best apple pie.
Survivors include three sons, Gary, Harry, and Kent (Debbie) Young, daughter, Connie (Richard) Davis, five grandchildren, Heather Young, Alexis (Sam) Pflugh, Trevor Young, Brian (Elyse) and Brett (Rachida) Davis; and five great grandchildren, Lyra and Abe Pflugh, Dahlia, Devon, and Alexander Davis.
Belva Jean was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Ordiway her brothers, Dr. Vernon and Milton Swick, and her first husband, Cloyd Smith (d.1947). Her husband of over 50 years, Wallace Young, died in 2002.
A Memorial service will be held Friday February 27, at 2:00 P.M. at the Concord United Methodist Church.
