Bernice K. Kennedy

Bernice K. Kennedy, 92, formerly of New Castle passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Carriage Court Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Born February 2, 1923 in Castlewood, she was the daughter of the late Howard D. and Minnie Carnes Buchanan. She was married to Merle F. Kennedy who preceded her in death.

Bernice was a lifelong member of the United Brethren Church in New Castle.

Survivors include five sons, Melvin (Caren) Kennedy of Wampum, David (Marian) Kennedy, Gary (Julia) Kennedy, Bruce (Joanie) Kennedy, and Roger (Melody) Kennedy, all of New Castle; three sisters, Cornelia (Tom) Hobrat of New Castle, Carol Buchanan of Apollo, PA, Marilyn Clendennon of Texas; brother, Brant (Betty) Buchanan of New Castle; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Merle Kennedy Jr., three brothers, Wendell, Clarence, Daniel Buchanan; and two sisters, Glenna Winer, Frances Heathcock.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday March 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 am with Rev. John Wiseman officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
