Betty L. Armstrong

Betty L. Armstrong, 79, of Edwards Rd., New Galilee (New Beaver Boro) died on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at UPMC Mercy Hospital following a short illness.

Born April 27, 1934 in Wampum, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Irene Huffman Hackett. She was married for 55 years to Edwin Dewayne Armstrong who survives.

Betty was a member of the former Keeley Alliance Church. She loved her family and her pets dearly. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially watching hummingbirds. She also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn (fiancé, Lisa Murin) Armstrong of New Beaver Boro, Bruce Armstrong of Darlington; daughter, Wanda Allen of New Beaver Boro; sister – Evelyn Swogger of Wampum; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Armstrong; two sisters, Eleanor Andorfer, Shirley Drotleff; and three brother, Harold “Red”, Charles, and Kenneth L. Hackett.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday September 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. John McCready of the Park Alliance Church officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
