Betty L. Ketterer

Betty L. Ketterer, 93, of Denny Schill Manor, Ellwood City died on  Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Passavant Care Center following a short illness.

Born March 16, 1919 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Gladys Blaine Kenehan.  She was married for 52 years to Ralph  R. Ketterer who passed away on December 27, 1992.

After Betty married, she operated a beauty shop in her basement.  She then owned and operated the Ellwood City Transit Co which furnished the school buses for the Ellwood City School District. She also ran a taxi cab service for Ellwood City.  She was an active member of the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Wesleyan Class and the Women’s Society.  She was also a member of the Wurtemburg Perry VFD Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed animals, especially horses.  Betty was known for raking leaves at Lincoln High School as a volunteer.  She was active with the annual Carpenter’s Project where she enjoyed painting.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Eugene Kenehan and Joseph “Bud” Kenehan.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday December 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8  pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11:00 am with her pastor, Rev. Jean Smith officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Slippery Rock Mausoleum.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Wurtemburg United Methodist Church.
