Carolyn (Brewer, Weir, Workley) Riedel, 84, of North Sewickley Twp. arrived at her heavenly home on Thursday December 7, 2023 at UPMC Mercy following a short illness.
Born February 4, 1939 in Morgantown WV, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Juanita (Mallott) Brewer.
Carolyn graduated from Beaver Area High School with the class of 1957. She was a homemaker and had worked at Mellon Bank, Zeiden’s Clothiers and Brown’s Office Supply, all in Beaver Falls. She was a Social Rehabilitation Aide at Friendship Ridge for two and a half years. Carolyn was a former member of Berean Presbyterian, PCA, North Sewickley Presbyterian, and the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church. She loved music. At an early age, she learned to play piano. She sang and soloed in choirs, and enjoyed all types of music, especially Southern Gospel. She was a Sunday School Teacher in all of the churches she attended and served as a Past President of the Wurtemburg United Methodist Women’s Group. Over the years, Carolyn would take church collected greeting card fronts, for art craft sessions, to skilled and personal care facilities. Also, sent collected stamps, Box Tops & Labels For Education to missions. For many years, she was a member of the Ellwood City Historical Society. She was an active member of the Silver Fitness Program.
Carolyn was predeceased by her late husband Gale R. Weir, father of their children. (They enjoyed fun times camping), and their infant daughter, Brenda Lee, her late husband Donald E. Workley, (They loved trail bicycling, dancing, and cruises), her sister, Oletia June Le Claire, (They were close/miles apart).
Carolyn is survived by her husband Gerald S. Riedel of 16 years. (They shared many experiences by tour bus; traveling to many destinations), son, Robert (Laura) Weir of Big Beaver; daughter, Janine (Charles Stanton) Simser of Texas and two brothers; Charles (Donna) Brewer of Jackson Twp and David (Pamela) Brewer of Texas. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren plus nieces and nephews. Also mourning her passing are her devoted friends and her church family.
Friends will be received on Tuesday December 12, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City
Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday December 13, 2023 at 11:00 am. Rev. Jay Sterling will officiate.
Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name or memory to the charity of the Donor’s Choice.
