Catherine "Kay" Thompson, 101, of Ellwood City passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 at Northview Estates.
Born August 19, 1922 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Esther Cora Shaffer Marshall. She was married to Robert G. Thompson for 59 years.
Catherine graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940. Throughout her life she was a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church, Camp Run Presbyterian Church, and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Scottsboro, Alabama. She was a member of the Ellwood City Women's Club and a 500 Card Club for 56 years. Catherine worked six years for US Steel in the order department and was a secretary at Riverside High School for 10 years.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda (Wayne) Small of Portersville, Judy (Fred) Goosen of Greenville, SC, Marilyn (Bill) Graham of Greenville, SC, and Amy (Jim) Oliver of Richmond, VA; brother, William Marshall of Ellwood City; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Robert, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Bolland and Martha Burns and two brothers, Lawrence and Robert Marshall.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday August 1, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.
Additional visitation will be held on Friday August 2, 2024 at the Calvin Presbyterian Church beginning at 10:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Camp Run Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvin Church, Lilyville Church of God or Gentiva Hospice Services, 26 Nesbitt Rd. #200, New Castle PA, 16105.
