Charles G. Essey

Charles (Chuck) Gregory Essey, 65, of New Galilee, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital.

Born October 3, 1957 in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Essey and Betty (Campbell-Essey) Kennedy.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his time in nature. His favorite places included the McKenzie River and the Santiam River areas in Oregon. He loved fishing, camping, and target shooting with his various guns and rifles. He also loved animals, especially his dogs, Toby and Buddy. Chuck was a wonderful artist and he found joy in creating many things. He could draw, paint, and sculpt just about anything. His sculptures of trout, salmon, and steelhead were so realistic that they were often mistaken for taxidermy fish. He also enjoyed photography, making videos, riding motorcycles, and boating.
Chuck was a truck driver by trade and drove cement mixers, boom trucks, dump trucks, and long haul semi’s. He took much pride in his work and was very good at what he did.
Chuck was a very laid back person with a big heart. He had the gift of gab and enjoyed making friends with most anyone he met. However, he had a few very close friends whom he cherished and who were there for him in the end.

He is survived by his son Charles D. Essey; son Mark A. Essey; daughter Heather M. Essey; daughter Jasmine D. Essey; 2 grandchildren; his cousin Louis G. Essey Jr; former spouse Deborah Essey; and his childhood friend Dennis Marich.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Chuck’s dear friends, Dennis, Jack, and Bob, for being there for him when he needed you the most. It meant so very much to Chuck. You were his strength!!! Thank you!!!

Per Charles wishes no services will be held.
