Charles H. Johns Jr.

Charles H Johns Jr.,88, formerly of Wayne Twp. passed away Tuesday, February 21 at Northview Estates.

A lifelong resident of Wayne Twp., Charles was born the eldest of nine children on February 19, 1935. He was born and raised and lived his entire life on the Johns farm. He was the son of the late Charles H and Sarah Elizabeth (Thompson) Johns Sr. He was married to Marilyn (Rice) Johns for 67 years as they were married October 22, 1955.

Charles retired from Calgon in 1990. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952 and was a member of Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church. A lifelong NRA member, Charles was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting all over the country, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; three daughters, Bethann (John) McKinley of Michigan, Linda (Bill) Robbins of Ellwood City, LeeAnne (Dean) McElwain of Fombell; son, Charles H (Lisa) Johns III of Cranberry Twp.; four brothers, Kenneth, John, Jim, and Carl Johns, ; 3 sisters, Jean Cowan, Margaret Cappiello, and Nancy Johns, ; four grandchildren, Sean and Sarah McKinley, Taylor Strauss and Carly Johns; two great grandsons, Henry Strauss and Connor McKinley.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Johns and great granddaughter, Quinn McKinley.

A private memorial service will be held for the family.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staffs at Northview Estates and Gentiva Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City.
