Charles E. “Chuck” Crawley Jr., 59, of Ellwood City lost his short but valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family on January 26, 2021 at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Twp.
Born June 24, 1961 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Charles E. Crawley Sr. and Vivian M. (Eady) Crawley.
Chuck graduated from Lincoln High School in 1980. He had been employed at many places in Ellwood City including the Recycling Center, Trader Horn, Ellwood City Hospital, and currently at Tony’s Beer Distributor. Chuck enjoyed playing, managing, and coaching softball as well as playing basketball. He was well known and loved by the community as a humble, caring, loving person who always offered a smile and encouraging words. He was well known for his inspirational posts.
Surviving and mourning the loss of Chuck are his sisters, Brenda (Crawley) Moses of Ellwood City and Diana (Crawley) Spencer of Beaver Falls; nieces Kristyn (Brock) Edwards of Beaver Falls and Kaitlyn Spencer of Midland, nephew, Waddy J. (Trey) Moses III of Ellwood City, great niece, Knora Edwards of Beaver Falls and great nephew, Julian DeCaria of Ellwood City. He is also survived by his fiancé, Ellen Barge of Ellwood City, step daughters, Brandi (Jeff) Caldararo, Jacquelyn Zak, Jeanie Jones and DaeJhua Barge, step sons, Robert Jones and Zachary Corbin; 10 step grandchildren; and 3 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by his aunt, Janice M. Smith of New Brighton and numerous special cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice R. Crawley in 2017..
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday January 30, 2021 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Due to Covid-19, all attending are asked to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and to keep your visits brief. A private funeral service will follow with Pastor Cliff Reynolds and Pastor Jimmy Johnson officiating.
Chuck’s family would like to express their appreciation to Vaughn Hudspath, Tony’s Beer Distributor, Pizza Joes, Dave Spielvogel, Dave Carothers, Sharon Rombold and every single member of the community who offered prayers and support and love to Chuck and his family during this most difficult time. Chuck will be greatly missed.
