Clayton W. Ketterer

Clayton W. Ketterer, 100, of Beaver Dam Rd., New Galilee (New Beaver Boro) died on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Hospice of Beaver Valley following a brief illness.

Born June 6, 1913 in Freedom, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Cora Edith Kirschner Ketterer. He was married for 49 years to the late Ethel V. Buchanan Ketterer who passed away May 1, 1989.

Clayton worked his entire life in the timber and lumber industry. He was a partner in W.S. Ketterer Lumber Co. until his retirement in 1992. He also farmed the family homestead in New Beaver Boro. He was a member of the Galilean Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee for many years. Clayton was liked by anyone he knew or met in his long and enjoyable life.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (James) Abbott; two sons, Leonard (Jean) Ketterer, Anthony (Donna) Ketterer, all of New Galilee; brother, Andrew (Betty) Ketterer; sister in law, Mary Jane Ketterer, both of New Brighton; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Edith VanKirk in 2011, five brothers, Earl, Oakley, Dale, Rusch, and Theron Ketterer, and two sisters, Glenda Thomas and Chelsea Ketterer.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 am with his pastor, Rev. C.F. Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in White Church Cemetery.
