Cynthia N. Johnson

Cynthia N. Johnson, 64, of Carson St., New Castle died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 in the Emergency Room of Jameson Memorial Hospital.

Born March 29, 1949 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Harvey T. and Elizabeth Sheffey McCarter. She was married on June 6, 1970 to John M. Johnson Sr. who passed away August 13, 2009.

Cynthia was first employed for Columbia Gas. She then worked and retired from the YDC in New Castle, where she was a youth aide. Cynthia graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chewton and a member of the Pastor’s Aid. She loved her church and her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Norene Johnson and a son, John M. Johnson Jr., both of New Castle; sister, Janet Sheffey Scott of Beaver Falls; and two brothers, Robert McCarter of New Castle and John Kenneth McCarter of Beaver Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Harvey McCarter.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday March 29 from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church in Chewton. Her pastor, Rev. Eric Board will officiate. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
