Dale John Newton

Dale John Newton, 65, of  Zelienople, formerly from the Fombell area, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012 following a two year illness.

Dale was born in New Brighton to John and Martha “Marty” Davis Newton on May 18, 1947.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol and Katherine and their children; a sister and brother in law, Janice and Leland Marshall of Perry Township; and a brother and sister in law, Robert and Marsha Newton of Lincoln, Rhode Island.  Dale is also survived by a nephew, Mark (Deborah) Marshall, and a niece, Jodi (James) Rock.  He is also survived by his special friend, Colleen Fitzpatrick.

Upon his graduation from Riverside High School in 1965, Dale enlisted in the Air Force and retired after 20 years of service.  His service time was spent in Spain, Turkey, Italy, Japan and various US Air Force bases in the United States.  After his retirement, he resided in the Miamisburg, Ohio area until returning to the Fombell area.

He was a member of the Wurtemburg United Methodist Church where he participated in the church choir and was a member of the Ellwood City Civic Choral.  He enjoyed music and computers which he combined to create concert CD’s for the choral members.  As a member of the VFW in Zelienople, he enjoyed participating in their dart league.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents, Robert “Ed and Estella “Stell” Newton and Lewis and Mary Jane Davis.

Visiting hours will be held on  Thursday December 27, 2012 from 1:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 3:30 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.  Pastor Jean Smith will preside over the funeral service.  Military services will be conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Perry Township.
