Donald J. Miller Sr.

Donald J. Miller Sr., 90, of  Sunset Blvd. Ellwood City died on  Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Golden Hill Nursing Center following a lengthy  illness.

Born January 23, 1922 in Ellwood City,  he was the son of the late Cecil W. and Lulu Searfoss Miller.

He was married for 66 years to Maxine Harmer Miller as they were married on March 15, 1946.  She survives.

Donald graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942.  He served in WW II in the Army from 1942-1946.  He was a member of the American Legion Post in Ellwood City.  Donald retired in 1974 following 32 years of service at US Steel in Ellwood City.  He was also the custodian at the Franklin Plaza for 10 years.  He was an active member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, serving as the Sunday School Superintendent for 5 years.

In addition to his wife Maxine, survivors include a daughter, Carole Miller of Ellwood City and a son, Donald (Delores) Miller Jr. of Harpswell, Maine.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Jr.,  Jefferson A., and Mendal W. Miller.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 on Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 11:00 am with his pastor, Rev. Elizabeth Wallace officiating.

Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church or the Ellwood City Public Library.
