Donald R. Anderson Sr.

Donald R. Anderson Sr., 78, of Gibson St. New Castle, (Shenango Twp.) passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness.

Born February 23, 1935 in Montrose, West Virginia, he was the son of the late James and Myrtle Keller Anderson. He was married for 57 years to Dorothy Stiles Anderson as they were married on July 12, 1956. She survives

Don retired from the B & W in 1988 following 31 years of service as a furnace operator. He was a member and head elder at the Park Alliance Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his 1969 and 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycles and watching NASCAR. Donald was a veteran of the US Army having served in Panama. Don was very proud of his children and he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, survivors include two daughters, Deborah (Bob) Sudano and Linda Anderson, both of Ellwood City; son, Donald (Barbie) Anderson Jr. of Lyndonville, New York; two sisters, Dorothy Bennett of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Josephine Long of New Castle; brother, Howard Anderson of Philippi, West Virginia; six grandchildren, Kristen (Goetz) Schaefer, Tammy (Gary) Rozanski, Ryan (Charlotte) Sudano, Evan Fennell, Haley and Steven Anderson; three great grandchildren, Keira and Jaxon Rozanski, and Marisa Sudano; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leslie and Robert Anderson, and two sisters Marie Thompson and Rosalie Moore.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday September 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City.

Funeral Services will be held at the Park Alliance Church on Thursday at 11:00 am with his pastor, Rev. John McCready officiating.

Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
