Donna Jean Snare

Donna Jean Snare, of Kissimmee, Florida passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at her sister’s home in Ellwood City following a brief illness.

She was born in Ellwood City, the daughter of the late Howard and Ruth Anne Mahan Snare.

Donna graduated from Lincoln High School. She served in the Army for 7 years, being stationed in Japan and at the West Point Academy. She retired from the Ellwood City Police Department where she was the dispatcher for twenty years. While in Ellwood, Donna was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and when living in Florida, she attended the First Presbyterian Church in Kissimmee.

Survivors include two sisters, Sandra Snare Lamantea with whom she resided in Kissimmee, Marsha (Larry) Murphy of Ellwood City; brother, Ron (Sandy) Snare of Ellwood City; special family friend, Elmer Powell of Kissimmee; nieces, Claire Ann Reash of Dublin, Ireland, Stacey Lamantea Brown (Bob Snyder) of Ellwood City, and Jamie Snare of New Castle. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a grand niece, Chelsea Reash, maternal grandmother, Esther Mahan, and paternal grandparents, John and Cora Snare.

Funeral Services will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City on Friday, August 4 at 11:00 am with Rev. Sean Brubaker officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ellwood City Library or the donor’s favorite charity.
