Dorothea Jane Baker Lindsay

Dorothea Jane Baker Lindsay, 80, of West Pittsburg, (formerly of North Beaver Township), passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Quality Life Services in New Castle following a brief illness.

Born October 27, 1940 in New Sewickley Township, she was the daughter of the late David William Baker and Belle Caroline Robinson Baker Cain and her stepfather, the late Samuel John Cain, Jr.

Dorothea was a member of the Girls Scouts of Beaver and Lawrence Counties, Inc. Council for over 30 years. As a volunteer in the Mohawk Area she received the Thanks Badge for serving as a leader, Service Unit Manager, Cookie Manager, amongst many other roles. Twenty one of those years, Dorothea worked as a professional staff member in the positions of Field Director and Business Manager until her retirement in June 2003. The greatest joys in her life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Dorothea formerly belonged to the Moravia Presbyterian Church and the Bethel United Presbyterian Church. While at Moravia she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Church Secretary, Elder, and Clerk of Session.

Survivors include daughter, Carrie Marie Lindsay of West Pittsburg; son, Christopher Samuel (Heidi Lynn) Lindsay of Mt. Jackson; granddaughter, Angelique Rose Lindsay; grandson, Christopher Anthony (Tristan Boss) Lindsay; great grandson, Beau Anthony Lindsay; two sisters, Doris Wilma Baker of Florida and Lucy Belle Cain (Dennis) McCowin of Erie; brother, David William (Joyce) Baker of Beaver Falls; and an ex-husband, Harry A. Lindsay of New Castle.

To honor Dorothea’s wishes there will be no services. She would appreciate your prayers for her loved ones and herself.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Shriner’s Hospital in Erie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum.
