Dorothy A. Houk, 74, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, died in Leechburg, PA the afternoon of June 8, 2024 after an extended illness.  
  
She was born on July 30, 1949 in Ellwood City to Blaine Norman and Nancy Elizabeth Markle Houk.  
  
She attended the North Denver Apostolic Church of Jesus where she enjoyed sharing her love of the Lord and music, and would often play the keyboard, organ or piano that she taught herself to play. She was employed as an LPN at a variety of hospitals from Miami, FL to Denver, CO, to Seattle, WA where she eventually retired after 21 years of service at the Veterans Administration. Dorothy had also spent many years as an executive in the floral import business in Miami, Florida where she traveled internationally to bring the best quality flowers to her customers. She was also a wealth of automotive knowledge, and could identify any classic car going down the road down to the year. Dorothy was an accomplished cook, never cutting corners on any ingredient - and one of her proudest moments was being asked to assist “The Frugal Gourmet” Chef Jeff Smith at a large catered event in Seattle, Washington. 
  
Dorothy is survived by a son, Brian (Kendra) Choy of Wichita, KS and daughter, Rachel (Stephen) Fisher of Denver, Co; a brother, William M. (Pattie) Houk of New Castle, PA; a sister, Becky Mondi of Lawrence, KS; sister-in-law Nancy Houk of New Castle, PA, and Aunt Beverly (Sam) Greenberg of Ellwood City, PA, four grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister and twin Patricia L. Houk, sister Polly E. McGrady, brothers James G. Houk and Thomas S. Houk, and nephew Tommy Blaine Houk. 
  
Per Dorothy’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Harmony Baptist Cemetery. 
  
Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the North Denver Apostolic Church of Jesus, 2552 West 65th Place · Denver, CO 80221.
